Thing 19 - Web 2.0 Awards List

I took a look at the Web 2.0 Awards List on the Seomoz.org website. I went to the Short List and selected the category, "Hosted Wikis". Then I selected the first place winner,"Wetpaint". It has several useful features. It allows you to start your own wiki. It also lists existing wikis in several categories: "Categories" (topics), "What's New", "Hot List", and "Staff Picks". I selected the Business Category and found a wiki entitled "Web 2 at Work", which is free and open to everyone.

The purpose of "Web 2 at Work" is to use collaboration tools to explore the use of Web 2.0 technologies at work. I thought this sounded interesting, but there wasn't much there. Back in April of 2007, the person who started the wiki created several thread subjects. I was suprised to find, however, that that there were very few postings after the original postings. Perhaps there are so many wikis around that business people have not discovered this one, or perhaps people are too busy doing their jobs to spend time posting messages on wikis.

Since "Web 2 at Work" is a wiki for the discussion of Web 2.0 technologies, it can be applied to any business or profession. Librarians could use it to share their experiences with Web 2.0 tools.
